This is one of the original photos from the Entropic Convergence conceptual collection. The steel beams supporting the bridge were carefully engineered, prepared, installed, connected, and maintained. But they are steel, and they are near the ocean. And entropy in the form of corrosion just gets to work on them right away, and never stops seeking ways to return that iron to the earth. So we see the pimples, the peeling and the scratches converge here.
