People knew Dottie could play, and she had made a fairly good living as a "side man." But people didn't know that she had been frustrated having to always play the music of others, when she had much to say with her own music. So she took time off from touring, and went to New Orleans to dig around for roots, collaborators, and beignets. And she took some time for herself to think about it.
